  • Change reference model

    Hello Together,
The following is not only a 2,5D topic, this is something what is important for all jobs.
And i think that also our customers will have such "problems"
I often do programming services for clients. Very often there are parts that are very similar. For this I use the function "Exchange reference model".
The problem now is that when I have a lot of jobs, I no longer know which geometries I used exactly. To do this, I have to start SolidCAM a second time or constantly switch between the parts to see which surfaces or curves I used in the previous part.
How do you solve this problem?
At the moment I am using screenshots.
I could be a nice function if SolidCAM would provide this screenshots or something like this!

    Best regards
    Rainer

    Hi Rainer,

I think we can look at the possibilty of having a right click on 'Part' in the Cam tree with an option of Screen capture. I believe we have this already as part of tool sheet..
You can create a Jira task on this and we will look into it.

Real subject here, is capacity to open several CAM parts simultaneously.

In order to have both CAM PARTS side by side (in order to be able to reproduce in the new one what was done in the old one ).
Ability to open several CAM parts.png

I get same request from a customer last week during training.

Solution was to run 2 SolidWorks/SolidCAM instances and open the two different program in each ones separately.

Also today a lot of customer don't think about this workaround to run several CAD instance to be able to open several CAM project.

          Herve,

Does Solidcam currently support copy and paste of toolpaths between two PRZ files opened side by side?

            No.

            It's my request here.
            1) Ability to open several CAM PART simultaneously

            2) Ability to copy paste jobs (like we do with drag and drop from template or job from CAM tree)

This is something requested by customers here in France. And I'm sure from other country like US in your case.

Today at GLOBAL INDUSTRIE PARIS tradeshow, ESPCI customer (InventorCAM 4 seats) words :
"We really enjoy InventorCAM, but one thing we regret compare to our previous CAM solution, is incapacity to open several CAM projects in same time".

            Hello Everybody,
an ability to open several Cam Parts simultaneously and copy and paste jobs between parts is also requested by our customers. It would be great if SolidCAM provides such a functionality. Some of our competitors like Topsolid have this option and we be frequently confronted with it.
            best regards Andreas

              Hi Andreas,
We have talked about this option several times Myself, Michael V. and some of the developers). As we are looking to develop "SolidCAM Assembly" (or something like that). This will probably include the option of multiple open operations. note: this is not a minor task.

I did a demo yesterday to a new potential customer
Company equiped with SW and Alphacam. They are considering to change their CAM system for Esprit TNG/TopSolidCAM V7/SolidCAM.
            7 CAM seats in game.

One of their request is ability to open several Cam projects simultaneously and copy&paste or drag&drop jobs between projects (as describted above)

A very usefuill feature in case of programing similar parts

Ability to work with several parts also is important to program 3D complex parts considering normally takes to long time to simulate or calculate some operations.

It means CAD Can be started on desktop 1, working on a project A,
