SolidCAM AI-based "Capture Best Practices" Machining Wizard

    Dear SolidCAM Team and Partners,

We will be developing an AI-based Best-Practices Machining Wizard, that learns from User work and generates both an automation script and also provide automatic parameter input defaults, based on previous work. This will be done by a combination of AI and Machine Learning.

Once we can learn from already created CAM parts and its operations regarding user choices, we can extrapolate to the next operations and thus save the customer a lot of clicks and also apply the technology he previously chose. The possibilities are limitless - for all SolidCAM operations, including obviously a holes drilling wizard!

Camworks, EdgeCAM.. for example have an old approach - like our AHRM - a complicated programmable technology data base, which is difficult to define and to adapt to every user need.

No other CAM system has our new approach today! Once we do this “AI automation”, it will be a breakthrough for our marketing and sales - We are sure about it.

In every second demonstration, we are requested to show automation, and our AHRM approach is not “easy” or let’s say not easy to Demonstrate! Once we do this “AI automation”, it will be a breakthrough for our demonstration and sales.

What we want to develop is SolidCAM's unique way for: “Capturing Best Practices”.

Not only using static pre-defined templates or machining processes, like we have today, but to dynamically generate machining scripts, based on collecting data of the customer’s previous choices and machining scripts. This is our real AI challenge for SolidCAM2022.

The project will involve artificial intelligence and automation of responses to the collected data. We analyze all the data that are collected to garner useful insights to improve the operations. That means going into data mining and simulations using artificial intelligence.

We are very excited about this project - it will put us miles ahead of all our CAM competitors!!

We have the right team to do this ambitious project – from experienced SolidCAM Product Managers to excellent AI experts and Programmers..

We will have this Machining Wizard in SolidCAM2022.

The idea is excellent, and it is worthwhile to add also an automatic technological wizard for cutting conditions, similar to the interface of iMachining, of course, with a constant feed rate, but in all Operations, considering, raw material, tools, clamping, and AI.

I was writing such a request before few years in Flyspray.

This is an amazing tool for beginners, without vast experience in CNC.

        Hello Emil,

This is a great idea and will definitely give SolidCAM a similar boost as our
        great iMachining technology.

Besides of mentioned, I like this idea too.

We can add default cutting conditions and allow users to modify them, according to their machining experience.

Once upon a time, we revolutionized the "CAM-World" with iMachining, and I'm sure we'll do it again.

The whole world is talking about self-driving cars and artificial intelligence.

Nobody but the experts really know what is behind machine learning and AI - if we bring this technology into our software we can put it on "autopilot" for our customers.

Moreover, it's not always the toolpath that's important, but the whole story around it.

Intelligent planning of processes, effectively machining multiple parts on different machines.

Due to the increasingly fierce competition in the machining industry, we must help our customers to remain competitive.

SolidCAM is gearing up for the future - we're looking forward to it.

This will be awesome for customers especially 'job shops'.

I can see this been a really valuable tool to cost jobs, as well as make it easier to machine!

Will this be for milling and turning?

Obviously we will start with Milling, specifically hole drilling, and then we continue to Turning.

                  Hello everybody,

                  I think that's a great plan.

Many users of CAMWorks, FeatureCAM etc. do not use the automatic programming because the effort with a database is too great.

SolidCAM is on the way to create an even bigger lead over the competition.

@Emil: Will it be possible to use the automation for simple parts over the entire project? So that simple parts can be programmed with one click?

                  Regards

                    Hello Joerg,

Our planned machining wizard will record the Best Practices of the users in a specific machine shop.

So the practices of the most experienced CAM programmer in the machine shop, can be shared with less experienced CAM programmers.

If the machine shop is doing mostly the same families of parts, then the technology used in one part of the same family will become a sort of template that can be automatically used for other parts in the same family.

                    Best Regards,
                    Emil Somekh
